New LeadFoot app to focus on strategies to reduce road rage
WASHINGTON, DC – Yarding Technologies LLC is set to launch its latest project, the LeadFoot app. The app focuses on strategies designed to help curb incidents of road rage by letting drivers share their frustrations with others.
The app features videos and posts from drivers who want to release their anger by telling their stories. Other functions allow drivers to post car selfies, share traffic-related memes and post about their rush hour nightmares.
Road rage continues to be a huge problem for law enforcement and all drivers and passengers on the road. Here are a few eye-opening statistics:
- 37 percent of aggressive driving incidents involve at least one firearm
- In a seven-year span, there were more than 200 murders directly linked to road rage
- More than 12,000 preventable injuries are the result of road rage
- Half of drivers have admitted that if they are subject to combative driving, they will respond with the same
Curiously enough, the majority of those on the road do not identify as an aggressive driver. However, illegal, yet seemingly benign actions can often be interpreted as contentious move, like completing a turn without signaling first, speeding and failing to slow for a yellow light.
Research shows that 49 percent of road rage incidents begin with distracted driving. These are drivers that may be too busy putting on makeup, talking with passengers or using their cellphone to realize that they are causing other drivers stress.
“LeadFoot allows drivers to release their pent up emotions in a safe way,” said Charles Franklin, Founder of LeadFoot. “Drivers ultimately just want to be heard.”
LeadFoot will be available at the Apple App store. To learn when it launches, register at www.leadfootapp.com.
